It is organized around eight dimensions of writing that are central to helping students use writing as a tool for meaningful communication: planning, developing ideas, organization, use of language, voice, mechanics and conventions, comprehension and genre understanding. The handbook includes an overview of the writing process as well as practical lessons and lesson adaptations that illustrate how to use specific writing strategies with students K-12.
